PNLE 2026: PRC Announces Major Shift in Examination Schedule

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has officially released the updated dates for the 2026 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE), marking one of the most significant schedule changes in recent years.

The usual May PNLE is now scheduled on February 26 and 27, 2026.

  • February 26–27, 2026 – replaces the traditional May exam window
  • August 29–30, 2026 – replaces the traditional November exam window

While PRC has not issued a detailed explanation, the adjustments align with several likely factors. One possible reason is the continued harmonization of licensure timelines with the updated academic calendars of many universities, where earlier year-end schedules allow graduates to be eligible sooner. Moving the exam to February also opens opportunities for earlier deployment of new nurses to hospitals and healthcare institutions that urgently need manpower.

Another likely consideration is the improvement of examination logistics. Shifting dates away from months historically affected by extreme heat or heavy year-end workloads may ease coordination for testing centers and regional offices. The August schedule, meanwhile, allows examinees who prefer additional review time to still take the PNLE before the final quarter of the year.

With these changes, review centers, universities, and aspiring nurses are encouraged to adjust their preparation timelines early and plan ahead for the new examination sequence in 2026.
